Track performance of web3 protocols
Hey theređź‘‹
My mission is to support ambitious founders and fuel innovation!
And we’re powered by Ocean Money today
will tell you more in a bit🏄‍♂️
Today's plan:
Use this framework to look into a business:
(1) The product
(2) The founding team
(3) Funding & Hiring
———
(4) Meme of the week
(5) Hustler's ambition
None of this is sponsored, I choose what to write about.
This is not financial advice either
Today is dedicated to The Web3 Index
But first, a word from our sponsor 👇️
Ocean Money: The all-in-one solution for crypto and fiat spending!
The Ocean Money app:
allows you to use a virtual debit card to make purchases with crypto
the service is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay
and all these transactions are non-taxable events (i.e. you don’t pay tax to use your crypto)
Sign up to the waitlist and be one of the 1st ones to receive the Ocean Money debit card 🏄️
And now onto today’s deep dive
The Product
(i) problem
how do you understand how active a protocol is?
what about many protocols at the same time?
(ii) solution & demo
The Web3 Index reports on the demand-side fees paid into web3 network protocols.
Put more simply, the Index shows you how much revenue has been generated by protocols in fees.
The more fees = the more a protocol is used
Here’s what it looks like
It shows you the:
30d fees
90d fees
30d trend (in %)
And when you click on a protocol, you get a more detailed view of its history. It’s pretty cool
(iii) considerations
Don’t think something like this would ever be paywalled.
Currently, it only has 7 protocols but hopefully more people will submit theirs.
(iv) how you can benefit
if you’re a dev, you can see this to track where the users are
if you’re an investor/gambler, you can use this as research
and you can submit a protocol
The founding team
It’s not clear who the team is, I was left with the impression that it was built by Adam Soffer but I’m not sure.
Below are the contributors on Github
Funding and Hiring
A) Funding - N/A
B) Hiring - N/A
Favourite meme of the week
Hustler's Ambition
(A section dedicated to frameworks/ideas/tools)
Tim Ferris with hair, dropping wisdom
Answering these 4 questions:
What do you want to have?
What do you need to get rid of?
How much does it cost?
What can you outsource? Here is a video of Tim explaining this process...
