Adventure #55 - Pomelo grants

Get your funding matched, thanks to quadratic funding

Hey therešŸ‘‹
My mission is to support ambitious founders and fuel innovation!

And I’m grateful that we have sponsors like Ocean Money who support this mission!

will tell you more in a bitšŸ„ā€ā™‚ļø

Today's plan:

Use this framework to look into a business:
(1) The product
(2) The founding team
(3) Funding & Hiring

Current events + business talk
(4) Meme of the week
(5) Hustler's ambition

None of this is sponsored, I choose what to write about.
This is not financial advice either

Today is dedicated to Pomelo Grants

But first, a word from our (returning) sponsor - Ocean Money

Ocean Money is an app that allows you to build and manage your wealth from one place.

It makes it easier for you to invest, fiat or crypto, in assets like:

  • fractionalized real estate

  • crypto ETFs

  • a Bitcoin mining fund

The app’s expected release is in September.
I’m on the waitlist. See you there?

The Product

(i) problem

  • funding is usually tough to secure

  • finding early users is not easy either

  • keeping track of what’s being built is also tricky

(ii) solution & demo

Pomelo is an open-source crowdfunding platform for public goods on EOS (a blockchain).

But there’s a cool twist.

Whenever you crowdfund (i.e. community gives you $), that amount is matched!!

Sometimes it can even be more than double 😮

The funds are provided by matching partners and the amount is decided through ā€œquadratic fundingā€.

Quadrating funding in a nutshell - the greater the number of individual supporters, the more $ a project gets from the matching pool.

So getting $1000 from 100 people is a lot better than from 10 people.

And that’s how the platform looks like

(iii) considerations

I’m not sure how well the matching funding idea is protected against gaming.

What’s stopping me from spreading my donation amount to 20 wallets and then donating like that?? Maybe they have some measures in place.

(iv) how you can benefit

The founding team

Funding and Hiring

A) Funding - N/A

B) Hiring - N/A

Favourite meme of the week

Hustler's Ambition

(A section dedicated to frameworks/ideas/tools)

Given that last week was Hormozi’s event, it’s reasonable to plug a tweet about his ideas

That was it for this week.
